brgk44@yahoo.comI'm a mom to two boys (born 2001 and 2003)--one superhero/inventor extraordinaire with a limitless imagination (and a more serious disposition) and one very inquisitive, creative boy that never stops asking questions and has an amazing ability to find the humor in almost any situation (he is also a superhero, but I think it's mostly to relate to his big brother ;) ). We are what some people refer to as "accidental" homeschoolers: this was not the path we originally planned, but it's what fits us right now. In other words, we had several awful experiences in our lovely public school system, so pulled the boys out in winter 2008 and haven't looked back--they're thriving, happy, and learning and that's what is important. I'm doing my very best to raise two independent, free-thinking, open-minded individuals.
As for me, I am a clarinetist (haven't played professionally in years, though) and I love most things musical. Give me 20 minutes with any instrument (except possibly brass, haven't tried) and I can usually play a few tunes reasonably well. My favorite subject of all time was music theory, followed by philosophy, math, physics, and physical chemistry. I have been on a spiritual journey of sorts for a few years. I stopped looking for something that fit me perfectly after reading some books on Buddhism. It doesn't fit perfectly, either, but I'm no longer looking for answers elsewhere. On that note, I find religion to be a fascinating subject. I spend too much time reading books (aka "obsessing") about religion.
Lately, most things of a private nature are friend-locked. Msg/comment if you want to be added. I'm not picky, and I go through spurts of posting/commenting a lot and then not so much. I don't go and "weed people out" once a year or anything like that. I am open minded and tend to not get offended easily. That being said, I don't need more drama; if you like to "stir the pot", go elsewhere.
